UK Government confirms EU Network and Information Security Directive (NIS) will be implemented despite Brexit

The UK Government has confirmed the NIS Directive will be implemented despite Brexit vote

The UK Government said it will provide support and guidance on implementation soon.

The government also recently released the results of its review into cybersecurity regulation, concluding that it was ‘not current justified’ in imposing new cybersecurity regulations on businesses above those in the current law and under the NIS Directive.

The government is considering whether additional regulation might be necessary for critical sectors. An article on the NIS Directive was published in Volume 16, Issue 3 of Privacy & Data Protection.
